Interview with Nicolette Mascari from Compass Real Estate

What does your company do? What products or services do you offer?

I am a Realtor and help clients buy and sell homes throughout MetroWest.

What makes you different from other companies?

I think what makes me different from other Realtors is how hands on I am with my clients. I touch every part of my work and transactions, from the initial emails and phone calls to handing over the keys at closing and everything in between. My service and attention to detail is unmatched. I think differently and outside the box for my clients to be competitive in this highly demanded market. I incorporate years of business skills acquired from working over a decade at a fortune 100 company.

What are some things you value as a business owner?

Honesty and integrity. This is a tricky business with a lot of gray area. I always prioritize my clients needs and work in their best interest. This is not a one and done deal for me, I value the relationships I build with my clients for the years to come from their first condo purchase, single family home and beyond.

What kinds of things do you want to hear from clients or customers?

We loved working with her so much, my entire family and friends all use her to buy and sell.

What’s your personal story? How did you get started (did you start the business or is it a family business passed down)? Was there someone that influenced and inspired you? Why are you passionate about your business?

I had worked in corporate for 10 years in downtown Boston. The hours and commute were starting to wear on me as a new mom. A family friend of ours was a very successful local Realtor and approached me about joining her team one day. I thought that sounded interesting as I really enjoyed working with people and touring homes, but had a very stable career in Marketing. When that stability started to get shaky, I took a year off to reevaluate my career and family priorities. I always remembered what Patti had said to me about Real Estate. I met her for coffee one day, and by the end of the meeting I was signing up to get my real estate license. I haven’t looked back since. I absolutely love meeting new clients, touring beautiful properties and helping people fulfill their dreams and live their best lives. This is such an intimate and personal job. I love getting to know my clients on a deeper level.

What’s the biggest factor that has helped you achieve success?

Hard work. I don’t stop learning, adjusting and growing. I put myself out there everyday and network, consume data and information, try new things etc.

What is the best advice you can give to others?

You will never have 100% in anything, but if you have 80%, then go for it.

If you could start all over again, what would you do differently?

I would have started real estate sooner.

At the end of the day, what puts a smile on your face?

Hard to name one thing… Telling a client their offer was accepted, calling a seller and telling them we received multiple over-ask offers on their home, moving family and friends closer to one another, fulfilling a lifelong dream of homeownership. Passing on homes from one generation to the next. There are really a lot of beautiful things about real estate and I am so glad to be a small part of these large milestones for so many.

BONUS QUESTION: Describe a way that your business helps your community in a positive way (giving back, bringing joy/happiness, inspiring others, etc.)? Why is this important to you?

A % of each one of my closings goes to the educational and emotional support of my sponsor child Jarolir in the Dominican Republic. We exchange letters, pictures, art and small items we can mail easily. I also sponsor and donate to over 10 local charities and organizations in MetroWest and beyond. I do anything I can to show my love and support for my friends, family, clients and community! Examples include, Boston Children’s hospital, Wayland Dad’s, Wayland Public Schools, NPH, Wayland Children’s Parents Association, Wayland Music School, Woman of Wayland Podcast, March of Dimes, Realtors Relief Foundation
